The Raven Guard — the XIX Legion — are the Emperor‘s hidden blade. In the early days of the 30th Millennium, they were deployed for infiltration, reconnaissance, and target identification missions, operating in secrecy to swiftly eliminate any factions that refused to submit to the fledgling Imperium, striking without warning from the shadows. They employed terror tactics akin to those of the Night Lords — but where the Night Lords revelled in cruelty, the Raven Guard wielded fear as a surgical tool.
One of the Legion‘s earliest known campaigns was the conquest of the Central Asian region, ruled by a tyrant known as Ursh of Kharagan. They earned numerous battle honours on Terra and later participated in the expansion of the Imperium to other parts of the solar system, notably liberating Jupiter’s moon Io from pagan forces. The Battle of Io proved costly for the Legion, and for many years afterward, its veterans wore the Jovian rune in remembrance of the sacrifices made there.
Now, in the 41st Millennium, though seldom seen, it is widely believed that in the veiled shadows of the cosmos, the Raven Guard continue to execute clandestine missions across the stars. Their Primarch, Corax, taught them that true victory comes not from brute force, but from precision, patience, and the unseen blade.
The Raven Guard Scroll Seal channels that legacy of shadow and precision into a wearable artifact. It is designed as a sealed scroll — a missive from the Chapter‘s secret wars, its contents known only to the deliverer and the recipient. To wear this seal is to carry the XIX Legion’s enduring oath: “From shadow we strike. In shadow we remain.”

🐦⬛ Design — A Sealed Missive from the Shadows
The Scroll Form
Unlike flat, two‑dimensional pins, the Raven Guard Scroll Seal is a three‑dimensional, vertically oriented scroll with irregular, parchment‑like edges. The effect is that of a sealed order — the kind of document that would be carried by a Raven Guard operative into enemy territory, its contents a matter of life and death. The scroll‘s surface is textured to resemble aged vellum, with subtle creases and folds that suggest centuries of handling.
The Raven & Shield Motif
Cradled within the scroll‘s centre is a high‑relief raven, its wings folded protectively around the Raven Guard Chapter shield. The raven — Corax‘s sacred animal — is rendered with fine feather detail, its beak and talons sharp and purposeful. The shield bears the Chapter‘s emblem: a stylised raven‘s head in profile, a symbol of the Legion’s identity as deliverers of the Emperor‘s justice from the shadows.
Gothic Scrollwork & Seals
The scroll‘s borders are adorned with intricate gothic patterns — interlocking arches, scriptural fragments, and ecclesiastical motifs that evoke the fortress-monastery Ravenspire and the Chapter‘s ten‑thousand‑year history. A wax‑seal detail at the base of the scroll reinforces the artifact’s identity as a sealed document, further immersing the wearer in the Raven Guard‘s clandestine world.
The Silk Ribbon
Attached to the scroll is a flowing silk ribbon or woven fabric strip. This dynamic element moves with the wearer, adding a ritualistic, ceremonial quality to the piece. The ribbon may feature the Raven Guard‘s creed — a fragment of the Legion’s enduring oath — or Chapter‑specific iconography, further deepening the artifact‘s narrative weight.
