In the Warhammer universe, purity seals are common ornaments within the Imperium of Man, extensively used by various Ecclesiarchy institutions and departments. They sometimes record the history of sector campaigns, the names of deceased Space Marines, or quotations from the Emperor or other authoritative figures. Purity seals are ubiquitous in the worlds of the Imperium of Man, sometimes attached to power weapons, sometimes to the power armor of Space Marines, and even to Imperial combat vehicles like Land Raider. It is believed that this greatly pleases the machine spirit.
In detail, purity seals take the form of prayers written on parchment. Space Marines generally affix them to their armor using red or black wax, often coated with protective sealant or encased in more durable metal shells. Usually, the chapter serfs brand these seals onto the Space Marines' armor. Purity seals can be attached to any place the bearer wishes to bless, although some Space Marines will brand it on their favorite weapons. In the eyes of the Adeptus Astartes, purity seals are symbols of pure faith or morality. Only the chaplains of the chapter have the authority to bestow powerful purity seals. They grant these seals to Space Marines before battle as a form of blessing. In many chapters, this has become a solemn ceremony. Purity seals obtained in this way, unlike other honors, grant the right to wear them only after proving oneself in combat.
It is worth noting that purity seals differ from the large, flowing prayers worn by the Black Templars on their armor. These do not come from the Codex Astartes but rather from the Black Templars' own system of faith and honor.
As its name, purity seals either symbolize that weapons and equipment have been blessed or proclaim that the wearer is pure in body and soul, free from the taint of Chaos. Inspired by this, Starforged has brought purity seals into real life. The Imperium uses purity seals to denote special honours, blessings, and oaths. Now you too can add them to your clothing, bags, costumes, and more.
