In 2013, a trans-dimensional rift known as the "Breach" emerged deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. From its depths rose a colossal creature—the first Kaiju—which emerged from the sea to wreak havoc upon humanity. While most military attempts to stop the beast ended in failure, it was ultimately eliminated by a nuclear strike.

In the aftermath, humanity named the creature "Kaiju." What was initially believed to be an isolated incident soon proved to be only the beginning, as wave after wave of Kaiju assaults continued to strike coastal cities across the Pacific.

Left with no other recourse, humanity created its own kind of monster: the Jaeger—giant mechanical hunters designed to combat the Kaiju onslaught. These massive war machines were piloted by two neural-linked operators, their minds synchronized to control the mechanized soldiers as one. Specialized systems were developed to classify each Kaiju by level and codename.

With the deployment of the Jaegers, humanity began to turn the tide—even transforming Kaiju attacks into media spectacles and public ceremonies. Yet, unbeknownst to them, a far greater threat was still to come.
